The Season of Creation is a liturgical season, that begins today on the World Day of Prayer for Creation on Sept. 1 and runs through Oct. 4, the Feast Day of St. Francis of Assisi. This is a season where we focus on God as Creator of all life, to celebrate our relationship with our Creator and the rest of creation, and to make new commitments to care for creation.
To join in the celebration, look for a link in your weekly enews, beginning next week, for a virtual, guided meditation from Pray As You Go, The Season of Creation: A Virtual Journey.
But today, take a moment to join with Christians across the globe and say a prayer for creation:
Creating One, I take a moment to look around me. I notice the colors and textures. I notice the activity and the rest. I notice the sounds and the silence. I pause, close my eyes, smile gently, and give thanks for the life around me. I take a deep breath, remembering that you created me – I am creation, just as much as that blade of grass, that chickadee, that fluffy cloud. We are all expressions of your creative love, individually and collectively. During this Season of Creation, may I find new ways to care for myself and for my creation siblings. Amen.
