Behind on the rent? Unexpected medical expenses? Mounting bills? A Duke Energy disconnect notice? Looming eviction?

These are realities that one-fourth of Cincinnati’s residents often face.

At two successive workshops at Knox, you will learn about the realities of poverty and the misconceptions so many have about the poor.

The first workshop, the Poverty Simulation Workshop, will be on Saturday, Sept. 20 from 9 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. in the social hall. At the workshop, you’ll experience what the struggle is like for those who live below the federal poverty line.

The second workshop, Misconceptions About Poverty, will be on Saturday, Sept.27 from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. in the social hall. At this workshop the many misconceptions about poverty will be cleared up and you’ll gain a better understanding of what causes poverty and what keeps people poor.

The workshops are being presented by St. Vincent de Paul and are sponsored by the Knox Mission & Social Concerns Committee and the Racial Justice Ministry. Come to either, or better yet, come to both.

Kids’ activities and childcare provided.
