On Saturday, June 21st, we are honored to join with former expungement candidates in a special Juneteenth celebration—dedicated to honoring freedom, resilience, and new beginnings. This year, we’re celebrating not only the end of slavery but also the journey these expungement candidates took toward a fresh start.
A bit of history, in 2024, Knox’s Racial Justice Ministry worked with Third Presbyterian Church staff and volunteers to educate and assist individuals seeking to expunge their criminal records in the Hamilton County and Municipal Courts. A total of 32 people went to court to have their records cleaned. Of these, Knox kept in touch with 21 people who experienced their expungements through the Municipal Court.
Come to Third between 3 and 6 pm to celebrate with us. Join us as we recognize their strength, progress, and bright futures ahead. Third Presbyterian Church is located at 3358 McHenry Avenue, Cincinnati, OH 45225.
Expect music, food, community, and a spirit of empowerment. Freedom is a journey and these individuals are walking it with pride.
Please let us know you are coming to the celebration by sending a text or email to Rev. Maggie Shreve, mshreve@knox.org or 312.730.0041 by June 15, 2025
