Join us again to discuss the history of this war-torn region in a presentation by Dr. Mark Raider that surveys Zionist and Israeli history from the late nineteenth century to the present. Dr. Raider will discuss the existential challenges faced by the Jewish people in the modern period, the centrality of Israel as a restored Jewish homeland for Jews worldwide, and the complex social and political streams in Israel today.

Dr. Mark A. Raider is Professor of Modern Jewish History in the Department of History (College of Arts & Sciences) and Director of the Center for Studies in Jewish Education and Culture (College of Education). He serves as Visiting Professor of American Jewish History at the Cincinnati campus of Hebrew Union College-Jewish Institute of Religion. Dr. Raider teaches courses on modern Jewish history, American Jewish history, U.S. history, American religious history, American cultural history, pedagogy, and research methods.
