The mission of Knox Preschool is to provide a warm, supportive environment in which each child is inspired to fully develop his/her potential within a framework of respect and responsibility. This environment is provided through caring and educated teachers who implement a developmental approach that encourages parent involvement.
Currently, there are 95 children ranging in age from 25 months to 5 years enrolled in the program. Children attend on a part-day; part-week basis with schedules varying depending on the age of the child and the needs of the family. The school is in session from September through May. Classes are offered in the morning from 9-11:30 and in the afternoon from 12:15-2:45. We also offer additional programs that can allow children to attend 9:00-2:00 on specific days of the week as well as a lunch program.
Knox’s lead teachers are college graduates in Early Childhood Education or a related field and all staff are certified in first aid and CPR. Pam is the Director of the program and has a degree in Art Education from Miami University as well as 13 years of teaching experience. Lisa is the Associate Director with an Associate Degree in Early Childhood Education as well as a degree in Mental Health and Human Services and has 19 years of teaching experience. Pam and Lisa have been Director and Associate Director since 2016. The teaching staff consists of eight lead teachers and seven assistant teachers.
The preschool provides a success-oriented, child-initiated environment in which children are encouraged to explore, ask questions, make choices, develop respect, and grow in self-confidence. The program emphasizes the individuality of each child and is designed to ensure that the social, emotional, intellectual, and physical learning process is both challenging and fun!
